Have you ever longed for a change? Any kind of change: scenery, culture, education, people, living arrangements?

That's what most students say they desired before they applied to the Perugia study abroad program through St. Bonaventure University.

"Going there was most definitely the change I needed after being in the Bona Bubble for two and a half years," said senior Alex Teixeira who went to Perugia in spring of 2012.

Living in a foreign country, relying on your own knowledge and Italian that you may already know or are just learning, can seem intimidating to some, but is intriguing to many others.

Perugia is a smaller city in Italy, located right in the center of the country, filled with students from America and all over Europe. Everyhthing is within walking distance. It's about halfway between Florence and Rome, leaving you with endless opportunities to see the rest of Italy, and wherever you want to travel while abroad.

The Umbra Institute, where Bonaventure students take their classes, consists of about 100 American students and offers classes taught in English by professors from Italy and all over Europe.

About Living in Perugia

There is a dining hall available to students where they can pay for individual meals, but most students prefer cooking for themselves. Local ingredients are readily available from near by markets, or a dinner out at a favorite restaurant is an easy and delicious option.

Living Arrangements

In Perugia you will be assigned living arrangements, but are permitted to request a roommate.

Umbra rents out apartments spread around the city center for students to live in, ranging from two to six students per apartment.

Students are required to keep their apartment clean and have bi-weekly checks by the housing staff.
